The supermarket chain Raley's moved up on this year’s STORES Top 100 Retailers list in the July issue of the National Retail Federation’s STORES Magazine.
The West Sacramento-based grocery company ranked No. 81, up 11 slots from No. 92 on the 2009 list. There is a Raley's location in Vacaville at the corner of Nut Tree Road and Alamo Drive.
Raley’s rank of 81 is based on 2009 estimated sales of $3.53 billion, not counting fuel sales, from 144 stores. That’s an 8.4 percent increase over the previous year.

66 billion, including fuel sales, with 142 stores.For this year’s list, the magazine eliminated sales from fueling stations and other non-retail sales, and counted only U.S. retail sales, rather than overall corporate revenue. Kantar Retail compiled the list and analyzed the data for the magazine.
Wal-Mart remained at the top of the list. Kroger, the nation’s largest grocery chain with more than 3,600 stores, held onto the second spot. Target climbed up to No. 3 on the list from the fifth spot last year.
Modesto-based Save Mart Supermarkets ranked No. 64, up from No. 69 last year.
Raley’s was the only locally based retailer on the list.
