On June 10, 2010, the Vacaville Police Department conducted a minor decoy operation at various tobacco-licensed establishments within the City of Vacaville. The operation used minor decoys to attempt to purchase tobacco products at local establishments as a means to ensure that the retail establishments are following state law.
Vacaville Police Department officers, working with the minor decoys, had the juveniles attempt to purchase tobacco products at 33 different locations that are licensed to sell tobacco products.
None of the locations sold tobacco products to the minors.
This successful operation is an excellent example of the employees following the law. It is our goal with the Minor Decoy Operations to encourage greater compliance by businesses in preventing the sales of unlawful tobacco products to minors. The funds for this operation and the Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs efforts of the Vacaville Police Department’s Youth Services Section is made possible through a grant from the Solano County Board of Supervisor’s Reducing Rates Coalition.
